
Cathedral of San Lorenzo open again
Open again after intensive restauration
On October 14th, 2017 the Cathedral San Lorenzo in Lugano did reopen. Restauration works lasted 7 years and each and every corner of this elegant building was restaured.
The Cathedral is only a few steps from our hotel, it is open dayly and can be visited free of charge (with due respect).

Hermann Hesse Museum
January - DecemberFrom November to March museum open on Saturdays & on Sundays from 10.30am to 5.30pm
Sunday readings from 4.00 pm, only from June to October
From March to October open EVERY day, including Mondays and national holidays, from 10.30am to 5.30pm.
The museum is in Montagnola, just a few minutes bus ride from Lugano and from our Hotel Federale
Museum: The Hermann Hesse Museum was established in the rooms of the Torre Camuzzi, in Montagnola, Switzerland in 1997. This ancient tower is part of the picturesque Casa Camuzzi where Hermann Hesse lived between 1919 and 1931. From his apartment, he had a marvellous view overlooking the lake of Lugano.
Walking tour “Following the trail of Hermenn Hesse”. On the occasion of the opening of the Museum, the Town Council of Collina d’Oro set up a footpath which takes to Hesse’s favourite places, passing by the houses where he lived, and ending to the cemetery where he is buried.

San Grato Botanical Park
Open from February to NovemberThe park, with its 62.000 square metres, has the greatest collection of azaleas, rhododendrons and conifers of the whole Insubric Region, in terms of variety and quantity.
Flora, theme walks, excursions, labyrinth, restaurant, playground, panorama and relax. The San Grato Botanical Park lies between Monte San Salvatore and Monte Arbostora, approximately 10 km from Lugano at an altitude of about 690 m S/m, with an exceptional panorama across the immediate surroundings over the peaks of the alpine chain
Early spring is the most beautiful season to visit this botanical park

MASI LAC – Art Exhibition Picasso – A different understanding

Lugano and its Art Museum of the Italian speaking Switzerland (MASI) dedicates this Spring exposition to Pablo Picasso. It will be a very interesting exposition because you will admire his many and various art pieces, inspired and made of very different materials and some pieces of Art are very seldomly displayed to the general public.
The Museum is at about 10 walking minutes Hotel Federale, at the end of Via Nassa
Opening hours of the exhibition:
Tuesday to Sunday: 10.00 am to 6.00pm; Thursday evening until 8.00pm
Monday: closed
